To make a shim, firstly you need a drink can. Then, just cut off the top and bottom parts of the can and cut the can from middle to get a rectangular metal sheet. After that just cut out an “M” shape from the metal sheet and fold it vertically so that you get a “V” shape. That’s your shim.
While making the shim, try to cut it in such a way that it resembles the length and width of your e bike’s key and gets fit in the lock easily. Now, slide the shim into the lock and twist it till you hear a clicking sound which means that the bike got started.
Using a Screwdriver
Firstly, you should just look for a fat-headed screwdriver nearby or take out a small flat-headed screwdriver if you have a toolbox with you. But make sure that the shape and size of the screwdriver should match the shape and size of your lost key.
After finding the screwdriver, insert it in the ignition keyhole of the e bike where you put your key. Then, gently twist the screwdriver until the bike gets started.
And make sure not to apply too much pressure as you can break the key-lock system and then, it would need a hefty repair or a replacement. This method will only work if your electric bike has older lock as it won’t work if you have new electric locks.
Using a Universal/Bump Key

Using a Plastic Pen
Use this method only if any of the above method hasn’t worked out for you as this method only works if you e-bike has old fashioned tubular-shaped locks.
This method can also damage your lock which would be beyond repair. So, use this method really very carefully.
To open your e-bike using pen. Firstly you need a plastic pen and then, remove it’s refill so that you are left with only the hollow cylindrical plastic body of the pen. Now, heat the plastic body of the pen till it becomes soft and malleable.
After this just insert this soft part of the pen into the keyhole and wait till it gets solidified and hard. Then, start twisting the plastic until it turns the lock and start your electric bike.
Caution: Use this method only if no other method have worked for you and you really needed to start your e-bike. As there are few risks involved while executing this method like, the melted plastic can stuck inside your key-lock system and make it blocked, it is also really difficult to remove the plastic stuck from inside of the key-lock system. And you can also over melt the plastic and can hurt yourself.
